“…Both read the same Bible, and pray to the same God; and each invokes His aid against the other…Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away.”

Do you recognize this quote? Well, before we go into that I want to draw your attention to a cultural “issue” going on here. First what is it saying? It talks about two groups of people reading the same Bible and praying to the same God. We should recognize that the person who spoke this is talking about the triune God of the Bible. I would like to note the difference between then and now, how have we fallen so far away that we, as a culture, have changed so that we no longer recognize God and His working hand in our everyday lives? This quote was spoken in a time where people say that God was sovereign and that He was in control, and now we see God and we laugh at the idea of Him. How has our culture failed in such a way that it fell so deeply away from the belief in God and the knowledge of His mighty hand? We as Christians should recognize this and see that God is still sovereign. Christians today need to stop being so tolerant of this sinful culture in which we live in and start spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to every tongue tribe and nation.

“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan—to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves, and with all nations.”

KCF Valentine’s Dinner Testimonial (Part 3 of 3)

On behalf of all who attended KCF’s 2011 Valentine Dinner, I want to thank the students and leaders of Grace Extension Program for their wonderful servant hearts. They were exceptional as servers for this event – cheerful, hard-working, and enthusiastic. I hope they will participate next year!

This year at KCF we served dinner and it was fun. We kind of goofed off in the kitchen when there was time. We had some difficult situations, but over all it was fun.

I enjoyed helping out KCF at the Valentine’s Dinner. I had the privilege of serving the food to the visitors, and hurrying back and forth from the kitchen filling water pitchers. The music was relaxing and the entertainment was very well done. The people had their dinner and listened to a speaker while we cleaned the tables and a little while after the speaker was finished, we served the dessert. I admit, there were some stressful points where we thought we might run out of food but we got through the night without spilling or splattering anything on the ground. If you asked my, it was a fun, thrilling, and over all enjoyable night for everyone.

KCF’s Valentine’s Dinner

February 12, Grace School had the privilege of serving at Kirtland Christian Fellowship’s Valentine’s dinner. When we came in, the tables and chairs were already set up and the favors were being made. Everyone had their own jobs to do, some poured water, while others dished out food in the kitchen. When we were first asked to serve at the dinner most of us were not excited about doing it, mainly because most people don’t like giving up their Saturday evening. Although when the night came closer we all became more open to the idea.

That night we had a really good time. I never knew it was so funny to hear people’s requests, it makes me realize what waitresses and waiters go through everyday. One of the many funny things that happened was someone asking for straight raspberries instead of the raspberry cheesecake, which is what we were going to serve for dessert!

The school received a donation of $100 for students serving at this event. One of our fellow students made the comment, “I now see how kitchen fights break out” in a joking manner, because while the night was somewhat hectic, it was very fun.

We are very grateful to the church for letting us serve at their dinner, it gives us a greater understanding of God’s heart, and that we as Christians should be servants. It isn’t all hard work; you can really enjoy yourself more and feel accomplished in knowing that because you sacrificed some time you are able to help someone else have a great time!
